Abigail Kawonza

She is a pioneer player  of the Zimbabwe Rugby Union women rugby players Where she played for Harare Sports Club ladies and the Zimbabwe Rugby Union Women Sables  and Women Cheetahs, teams that she captained as well. She was the first woman to attain her Level 2 Fifteens and Sevens coaching badges.

She broke many barriers for women in Zimbabwe Rugby as she went on to be the Head Coach of the ZRU Women Cheetahs team. She is an active referee with the Zimbabwe Rugby Referees Society since 2005.

In 2019 she was elected the first Female Zimbabwe Rugby Referees President, a first also in Africa. She is the Operations manager of the Zimbabwe Cheetahs team and a board member of the Zimbabwe Rugby Union.

Abigail Kawonza is an accredited World Rugby Educator, for Activate and Match Officials. She is also an accredited World Rugby citing commissioner.
